Sara Donati is the penname of Rosina Lippi. Rosina writes the Wilderness series under a penname because it provides a little buffer between the public and private parts of her life. 
Rosina was born and raised in Chicago, but she has lived for longer periods in the Austrian alps, on the East coast (where she earned a PhD in linguistics from Princeton) and Michigan.
